Trace Heating

Electric trace heating is a regulated technique for preserving process temperatures in pipes, tanks, and vessels by supplying heat to counteract heat loss.

This system generally consists of heating cables or elements that are installed in direct contact with the pipe and are insulated to retain heat energy. The heat tracing cable aids in maintaining the necessary ambient temperature, ensuring effective temperature regulation across various industrial applications.

Electrical heat tracing systems may feature self-regulating heating options, enabling tailored heat output to sustain process temperature based on operational requirements. Every pipe, tank, vessel, and impulse line is susceptible to heat loss when its temperature exceeds the ambient temperature.

While thermal insulation can mitigate this loss, it does not completely eliminate it. The installation of electrical heat tracing systems can compensate for this heat loss based on the system’s requirements, thereby ensuring effective temperature maintenance.

Electrical heat tracing utilises specialised heat tracing cables that contain resistance elements to counteract heat loss, effectively sustaining the desired ambient temperature.
